Benignus Students, Teacher Honored at February Board Meeting

The Klein ISD Board of Trustees recognized an outstanding Benignus Elementary educator and two outstanding students at the February Board meeting for their dedication to success in the classroom.

Ms. Leslie Hardee is a phenomenal ACCESS teacher with a heart of gold that extends beyond her classroom. She comes to school daily ready to serve not only her students but the staff as well.

Ms. Hardee created “Project Sunshine” for her school, allowing students to learn while spreading joy. Once a month, her students come together to create something for the staff. Her innovative approach to learning helps her students' continued growth.

“If you go into her classroom, she’s always doing something innovative or creative,” Benignus Elementary Principal Amanda O’Dowd said. “She has grown her classroom beyond measure; her classroom is truly a classroom of lifelong learning.”

Fifth-grader Christopher is a joyous scholar with a “we, not me” attitude. Christopher stands out because of his fantastic showcase of adaptability and his respect for others, such as the adults in his life. He takes pride in his schoolwork and collaborating with his peers.

“We’re incredibly honored to have Christopher in our classrooms,” fifth-grade teacher Mr. Andrew Johns said. “He shows outstanding work as a learner in this district and as a community member.”

Annabel is a superstar student who goes above and beyond to reach her goals. When she comes into her classroom, she is a student who takes pride in being a role model for her classmates and a good friend. Her drive is admired by those who witness her efforts daily.

“Annabel is an amazing young lady who exhibits exceptional character through her leadership, grit, values, and scholarship,” fifth-grader teacher Ms. Cara O’Leary said. “Annabel is an excellent communicator who collaborates with her classmates.”

Congratulations, Ms. Hardee, Christopher, and Annabel! Your Klein Family is so proud of you. Thank you for being great role models to your fellow Benignus Leopards!
